Thinking of going to X-Cube? Better off staying home and playing X-Box. It's not easy finding a good place to dance here in Taichung. Current politics have closed most of the better places in this town so it was with eager anticipation that myself and a few of my friends pimped ourselves up and headed to X-Cube. It began with waiting in a very long line for a very long time. Finally get to the door after 40 minutes to be roughly fondled by the unfriendly bouncer so thoroughly that I can only assume he thought I was either Bin Laden or a prostitute. After he didn't find W.M.D. then in Chinese the guy asks his boss if it's OK to let the "Big Noses" into the club. We had booked a table and let them know we had but were informed that because we were white we were not allowed to have a table( for interests sake we were a mixed party of locals and us foreign peeps). We were allowed to pay and go inside where there is no place to sit and nearly no place to stand. The dance floor is a strange pyramid type thing which is hard to dance on because the floor isn't flat. The music was awful with "I'm a Barbie girl" played twice in the night and that was one of the newer songs played. The drinks were over priced but in the one positive thing I can say they were not watered down and no more expensive then say lobby. After 1 1/2 hours my lady and I couldn't take anymore and with our group headed around the corner to 18 T.C. Not a great place but far far better then X-Cube.
