Like to dance? Like to drown out your worries in an oblivion of loud music and bright lights? Like to get drunk and be able to bring home some of the most gorgeous people in Taipei (and that's saying a lot, even if it is all just make up)? Now I am usually an upscale, high-quality-cocktail-lounge-bar kind of person, but once in a while I do want to let loose that animal within myself and forget all restrictions and social codes. Nights like this, I want excitement, I want heat, I want non-stop adrenalin boosts. Ever get that feeling? If so, Luxy's a definitely a good place to try out.
Entering Luxy is an experience in itself. There are 3 lanes when you enter, one for the VIP, one for the VVIP (very very important person), and one for the rest of us. I suppose they have no choice but to segregate their guests in this way, because one lane is much less efficient, and as long as the lanes are being separated, they might as well be hierarchized too! Then you take one of their 2 private elevators (not segregated... they don't want to make it that hard to get in) up to the 5th floor, and step out. Three things happen at once: 1) several very hot girls, whose apparent sole job is to stand next to the elevators all night, welcome you to Luxy. 2) Laser green lights flash at you and do their best to disorient you (I guess this is another way of discriminating against people, in this case, the newcomers. Watch derisively as the newbies duck and try to avoid the harmless green lights). 3) Loud music blasts at you and you can immediately feel the pounding and the desire to start dancing. All this before you enter Luxy proper.

The Rooms

Hip Hop Room
From there the first room you enter is a huge, two-story high room, with a circular bar in front, booths lining the sides, and a large dance floor facing screens and a DJ stage. This room is called the hip hop room. It's where all the activities take place: be it a big event like Flo Rida's 31st Birthday Bash (hello proof that Taiwan's one of the happening places), or the nightly events: hot dancers, bottles flying through the air, etc. Every night Luxy is open, this room manages to get packed full of beautiful people after midnight (not an easy feat for such a large space... the packed part, less the beautiful part, after all, we are in Taiwan). Some of these people even manage to really dance instead of just swaying and looking sexy, which is the usual formula for how hot people are supposed to behave in the cool clubs in Taiwan.
But the hip hop dance floor usually doesn't allow you much room for better dance moves, because it's so full. So if you want to somewhere with more space to the dance, you could head to either of the other two rooms in Luxy. One is the electro room, which also has its own stage, bar, and dance floor. The other is on the floor above, beside the balcony with all the private booths, and is called the Loft (yes, if you're a floor above everyone else, you get your own name). The Loft also has a ton of booths, a bar, and a small dance floor. The feeling here is a bit more chill, being a cross between a lounge bar and a club.

The Activities

When you go clubbing, the point is to keep the excitement level up. Luxy understands this, so their main draw is their events and activities. Luxy always manages to get these internationally big name people to come: Flo Rida, Black Eyed Peas, etc. Even on nights without that though, there'll be events that are guaranteed to draw crowds, such as Luxy Girls' dance night where you'll see elaborate staging, moves verging on acrobatics, and pole dancing from ceiling to floor.
Fire. Bottles. Juggling bartenders.
Then there are the regular activities: at 01:00 every night they're open, the part of the circular bar in the hip hop room facing the stage is roped off, bottles are lit on fire, and bartenders start juggling these fire-lit bottles, throwing them to each other, blowing fire from them, all choreographed to crouching-tiger-hidden-dragon-fighting-esque music. After, you get a bit of time to return to the boring stuff like dancing with hot people, then the Luxy Girls go onstage to show you just how well a girl in a mini-skirt and shake that booty. As for the heterosexual girls and homosexual boys out there, don't despair: half an hour later the Luxy Boys go onstage to show off their breakdancing moves and cute bodies. Then, half an hour later again, the Luxy Girls reappear to make sure that your adrenalin gland doesn't turn off. By now it's near 03:00, you're a bit drunk, very exhilarated, and have started making your move on that hot girl, so for the next hour people will gradually drift off in pairs, right on schedule for 04:00, closing time.
After you leave, you can head for the alley behind Luxy (called Cha Jie, meaning tea street) where there are a bunch of tea shop/restaurant places, for those craving food to have some classic Taiwanese meals. Otherwise, you can go home, most likely with someone (probably up to you whether it's someone making sure you get home safe, or someone making sure you have fun after getting there), and end your clubbing night in classic post-clubbing fashion. No matter what your post-Luxy experience is though, at least you know you've had a night of excitement and fun, which will leave its mark on you in one way or another, even if just as a memory. After that, however stressful or banal your everyday life is, it'll be a bit alleviated just by remembering what that night a couple days ago at Luxy was like.

Guest Your article is so base. Prejudging that everybody goes to clubs to get laid. Not a good article. I‘m sorry.

Guest Yeah, because soooo many people go to clubs to enjoy the atmosphere and drinks. That‘s totally what Luxy‘s for. Yep.

Guest Yea, but also a lot of people go there to get laid and have a good time.
Anyway, most of the clubbing vibe in Taiwan is boring.
