WEEKEND GUIDE 2 FEB 2018
Happy bloody Friday! It's been that kind of week... (Stay away from Bitcoin kids 😜😎)
The Year of the Dog is on its way. We say hell no, here's to the Hair of the Dog first!
Here are our recommended events this weekend.
LIVE MUSIC
Twangover@ James Joyce Irish Bar
These energetic young Southern gentlemen represent all that's good about the US of A, and their music will make you yearn for places and women that ya aint ever even seen. Pair that up with the musical heritage of the Celts, and you're in for another cracking night at Gongguan's James Joyce Irish Bar.
If you're not having fun at this live music show, then you're doing it wrong.
Joshua Gerardi 23 Public Beitou 北投
This little craft beer bar next to Xinbeitou MRT Station is becoming the favorite watering hole of those living in Northern Taipei or taking day trips to Yangminshan.
They champion live music and have some excellent musicians lined up almost every Saturday.
Game of Punks @ Revolver Bar
The name says it all. If you know Taipei's number 1 rock bar well enough, you'll know what to expect.
NIGHTCLUBS
HSTL12 @ Triangle
Kaohsiung Carnaval @ Brickyard 紅磚地窖
February is the month when Taiwan's Latino and Carribbean communities celebrate their music, food and roots. The first Kaohsiung Carnaval should be fun at the always good, always busy Brickyard club.
Winter Vacation @ Club PYE
The new nightclub where Halo lounge bar used to be is a big improvement on the terrible H Club.
Club Pye is putting the FUN back in ATT4Fun.
Elektro Express @ 18TC (Taichung)
UK's finest, DJ Robi Roka takes over Taichung nightlife favorite 18TC nightclub with Aaron.
BARS
NukeEmAll Re:Soul @ Another Brick
This new bar in the Gongguan student area really impressed me when I stopped by there. Not skimping on any renovations, it's a stylish decor and hidden basement shows the Parisian roots of its owners.
It might soon be the favorite bar of many students in the area. Catch that handsome devil and musical genius DJ Resident Soul (aka mr Paul Duffy of Roxy Rocker and The Beat) in the awesome basement this weekend.
