Have you ever marveled at how some actors appear so natural on stage or screen? Have you wanted to completely immerse yourself in a role? Or have you just wanted to feel comfortable in your own skin?

“Know Thyself”

----------------------------------------------------------------

NEUTRAL is a term referring to the unadorned, the natural, and the most basic. In the theatre, it also means connection, grounding, and presence, and is a fundamental concept that brings great power and versatility to those who can master it.

In this workshop, we will explore different ways of finding and challenging our own senses of neutral- physical, emotional, and psychological. It is inspired by Derek’s own journey of finding self, presence, and stage confidence through experiences culled from a variety of techniques and exercises from classical singing, physical theatre, Suzuki Technique, Viewpoints, mask and clown. With these methods we will learn about our own selves, our limits, and open up new possibilities for our acting. Owning our true neutral selves is vital for anyone pursuing any form of acting, or for anyone who just wants to feel comfortable in their own skin.
